A51p blue screen on display setting change.

This problem first occurred a few weeks ago and has got progressively worse. I now can only run the pc in 4 bit min resolution - 640x480 setting otherwise it blue screens immediately. I am running windows XP which has all the latest patches, the Bios is up to date and I have tried to update other drivers but get various errors.

try uninstalling the current driver for graphic card. go to http://support.lenovo.com and download the drivers for your unit.

since this had happened a few weeks ago, was any new software installed on your unit ?

Also test memory. Common cause.

A part from HP printer drivers (which I suspect are the root of all evil) I removed anything else that was installed recently. The first thing that caused the blue screen was Google earth which had been installed for a long time just not used again until recently. I will follow both recommendations and get back to you - thanks.

It seems I had a clash of screen drivers, when I deleted one through properties the problem fixed it self. But I have defraged and disk cleaned and low level virus checked so the pc is running beautifully.
