Re: Dual monitors problem - VGA and Displayport

We are having the same issue with brand new M81 and M77 PCs. We have a Display Port to DVI adapter going to a 22" Viewsonic monitor for the primary disaplay and then have another 22" viewsonic connected to the VGA port. If a user goes away and the displays turn off (after 15mins) Then they only way they can get the secondary display to comeback on is to restart it. I have disabled hibertnation/sleep mode.

this is what was suggested. Not really liking the poorer resolution though.

Re: Dual monitors problem - VGA and Displayport

Trying to wake this thread. I setup my M81 connected to VGA cable to a monitor. Then I shut it down. Then I took it to my TV and connected using DisplayPort and DisplayPort to HDMI adapter cable, and then HDMI cable to TV. Turn it on, adjust resolution, I have a working setup with video and audio. Then I put it on standby. Then I resume. Works.

Then I put it on standby. Turn off the TV.

Then I come back. Turn on the TV. Bring computer off standby. No display.

I switch sources on TV and come back to HDMI source for desktop. No dice. If I happened to have changed source after putting desktop on standby, and then turned TV off, I will not even be able to return to HDMI source for desktop.

Essentially I have only ONE display and that is my TV - a Samsung DLP. The only way I can get things back is to power down desktop, take it upstairs, connect to monitor using VGA, shut it down, bring it down, and then resume. EVERY TIME.

Something tells me when TV is shut off, and / or TV source has moved to something else, Desktop is thinking DisplayPort is not connected and will not output signal. WHY ?!?!?!?!

Re: Dual monitors problem - VGA and Displayport

This is what you need to do for all those that don't have the bios option. Click on the links and get the Intel drivers that support that onboard video card in the m58 series lenovos. There are 2  downloads needed to get the monitor to work. The intel Q43/Q45 http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu

And the intel graphics accelerator driver for windows 7 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/22167/a08/Win...

This is of course after you have already installed the drivers for the display port monitor. Once you install the monitor will awaken!!!!  All that BIOS talk is for some other machine there are no options for the display port to be made the priority on the m58 machines and even though it should work like some of the direction say it doesn't. I have had success on 2 machines using the solution above. Hope it helps
