Hi
i have connected a WD passport essentail 500Go on a Edge 71 CoreI5 (family 1578-L3G) and the Windows system hangs at the open session (welcome screen).
i have tried with a HITACHI Touro 500Go, and there is the same problem.
I don't have the problem with a Lenovo Edge 71 CoreI3 (1578-D7G) !
The "Lenovo System Update" is up to date.
If i connect the disk when Windows is completely loaded, all is fine.
second question:
i want to disable "usb legacy" on Bios, but i have an usb keyboard. Is it possible to recovery the keyboard capabilities ?

Hi thierry,
Sounds like an annoying problem, what BIOS version do you have?

hey thierry,
There is a newer version from June 5th 2012, you may want to try to update: Flash BIOS update - ThinkCentre M71e and ThinkCentre Edge 71
Let me know if it works after you update.
Cheers,
Ed

Ed,
The Bios version of 5th June 2012 is corresponding to file 9QJY38USA.EXE , and this update is already installed:
Bios Revision Level:
9QKT38AUS
Boot Block Revision level:
9Q37A
The Bios Date is:
05/24/2012
The problem appears just after the opening of the user session : the "welcome screen" seems to be freezed

thierry,
Thank you for your reply, my last suggestion would be to see where the USB drive is in the boot order (BIOS) I would try moving it lower if it's at the top, if USB boot is enabled, you can try to disable it. If you haven't tried a different USB port, do that as well.
Best regards,
Ed

OK Ed
The question is (explain on my precedent post):
Why this problem exist with Edge71 CoreI5 and not with Edge 71 Corei3 ?
The BIOS versions are the same!
Is the Motherboard différent ?
Is the USB controler different ?
best regards

hello
i'm just trying to connect a Hard Disk Buffalo Ministation which is USB2.0
(It's the third disk i'm testing)
And all is OK
Therefore, the problem is with USB3.0 Hard Disks.
There is an incompatibility between Lenovo Edge 71 CoreI5 and Windows 7 64
when logon with the USB disk already connected).
Can someone explain ?
