There is no video ram size limit. But the 1 gb version doesnt perform any better the 512 mb version, i have had both.

Yes, but with DDR2 or 3 memory, maybe a couple of watts.  High-speed DDR5 memory consumes a lot more power, and you need to consider the difference. 

Lenovo has under-rated power supplies even on current systems, the AMD 6450 that can optioned requires a 400w supply, but the M91p only has 280w. 

If you can find a card with DDR3 memory, that would improve performance, even if it means getting 512MB.

Thanks to everyone for the great info! Is a low-profile card necessary, or would a regular card work?

if it is a regular desktop tower then you can use the normal card, if it is the small form factor then you would need a low profile card.

Yes, full height (normal.) It goes in the top slot. And download the latest drivers from the web.

Okay, thank you. Just one more question, are there any quad core processors compatible with the motherboard on that computer? Or is dual core the best that it'll work with?

Q8200 is the only one listed as supported for the ThinkCentre M58 last time i checked. But i can recheck for you, give your full model number of the machine, 7244-xxx

according to this, the Q8200 and some of the Q9xxx series quad core are supported in your system.
