Help removing HardDisk from 8310-48U Bay 5

Help.

I need to remove the harddrive from an 8310-48U Bay 5.

I removed the front and side cover and Bay 5 only partially opens because there are some things underneath.

My front cover (the one already removed) only covers ~85% of the front.  There's another lower front cover still in place.

How can I remove that?  I found two clips (looking at it from the front of the machine), on the top left (inside) and top right (outside) but I feel there's another clip or two still remaining.

Help!

Yes, I went there (HMM) before I posted here.

It makes no mention of the lower front cover.

Re: Help removing HardDisk from 8310-48U Bay 5

You shouldn't have to remove the lower front bezel to access the HDD. Once the main front bezel is off, look inside at the top of the HDD, there you will find two shiny metal tabs, press them lightly towards one another and push the HDD tray out towards the front. It will not completely come out, it swings out from the base. (It might be easier if you disconnect the power and IDE cords from the HDD before trying this) Once the tray is tilted, press the blue plastic tabs to release the HDD from the frame. The HDD rails screw into the sides of the HDD, so you''ll need a screw driver for this. Make sure you don't loose the little rubber gromets when removing the screws.

Re: Help removing HardDisk from 8310-48U Bay 5

Thanks for the help.

Yes, normally that would be true but this model has a PCMCIA underneath the HDD enclosure.  It's so tightly packed in there that I cannot open the swing the HDD bay out even an inch (not enough to remove the HDD).  I removed two screws on the bottom of the PCMCIA card, but it looks like it is removed from the front, hence I need to remove the bottom front cover.

Nevermind!

I got it out.

It turns out there was enough room for the bay to swing out, it was that the HDD was originally inserted wrong and that was interfering with the swing of the bay.   I had to bend some metal, but I got it out!

Netvista 8307 Tower - Bay 5 Preinstalled drive - How to remove

[ Edited ]

Hello all,

I have a NetVista 8307 with a pre-installed drive in bay 5. The user's manual(s) do not describe how to remove this drive. Does anyone have any knowledge to share about how to do this. Thanks.
