I don't know what's happening...
2 nights ago, I was using my computer, I walked awy, came back, frozen. I did a hard reset and rebooted. It booted into my OS (Ubuntu linux 9.10), but before it booted, it said "CRITICAL HEAT! Your computer has reached a critical heat!" But it booted. Froze again. I tried to install Windows 7 cause I thought "Maybe it messed up on installation." (I had just reinstalled it that night). It froze during installation. I opened it up, vaccumed the top of the secondary fan, put it back togeher, and it worked. I was able to install Windows 7 and Linux with no problems. Sadly, it didn't last long. It worked until a few hours ago when I tried to install a game on win 7, and boom! It froze again. I put in a spare hard dive because I thought it might be the hard drive. Now the BIOS won't pick up the new HDD! The windows 7 installer will though. Please help! I'm trying to sell this computer to get a new one!

Have you tried resetting the BIOS? Are there any blown caps on the board? Could be a fan going bad, may also be a chipset failure.

How do you reset your BIOS? I don't think there are any blown caps. I was just inside it.

Hopefully, if I'm right, I think this is what you are looking for; Clear CMOS procedure - NetVista / ThinkCentre
Another usefull reference Hardware Service Manual (March 2005) - ThinkCentre A35 (type 8139)
Hope this helps

Other than running a BIOS update which has it's own risks, none that I know of.
Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) (July 2004) - ThinkCentre A30
