Hi There.
I have installed Windows Server 2003 R2 32 BIT onto a Lenovo M58. I have managed to install all but two drivers. The PCI Serial Port and PCI Simple communications controller drivers are proving to be a pain. I cannot find them or an alternative anywhere..
I had simillart problems with the M57 last year but i finally managed to locate the correct driver but the M58 has me stumped..
Does anyone have any ideas or know where they can be located?
Many thanks!!

Hi there.
Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately this didn't help. The .exe files failed to recognise the OS and the BIOS flash didn't work either....I think for the same reason.

Richard
BIOS flash should work if you are below most current
BIOS for ThinkCentre M58 , M58p
Version 5CKT57A
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
You might have problems finding windows 2003 drivers - and XP or Vista drivers might refuse to be installed
Also: My suggestion was to act in ANALOGY to the solution offered for M57p
- but with the right material for your M58
i.e.
Intel Active Management Technology driver for your M58 type/model
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
By the way which model type do you own ?
Waiting for feedback

Extracted the AMT driver
in directory structure to where extracted

Legend!! That worked a treat!! : -) That solved the PCI Serial port driver.
I managed to solve the PCI Simple communications controller on Friday morning by adding a new entry for Server 2003 into: Intel(R) Active Management Technology - SOLoem5.inf.
[Intel.NTx86.5.2]
; Winodws 2003 Server
%E29B7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B7&CC_0700"
%E29C7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C7&CC_0700"
%E29D7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29D7&CC_0700"
%E29E7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29E7&CC_0700"
%E29F7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29F7&CC_0700"
%E29B7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_28B7&CC_0700"
%E29C7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_28C7&CC_0700"
%E29D7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_28D7&CC_0700"
%E29E7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_28E7&CC_0700"
%E29F7_serial.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_28F7&CC_0700"
Thanks again for all you help, that saved me alot of time!! : - )

Hello Richard12628
Question how did you even get Win 2003 R2 installed?
I'm trying to do the samething and as soon as it gets past the copying windows files and installing Windows it goes to the blue screen. I tried F-6 or 8 to install drivers and it states no floppy drive found.
Little help would be nice for the work around.
Thanks
Greg
