M50 8189 and ATI Radeon 9700pro hangs/reboot

Hi, I'm trying to use my ATI Radeon 9700pro Agp 8x, used since now in other PC. All seems to work fine but when i play large images, full screen videos and d3d test from dxdiag pc hangs and reboot itself.

I've tryed ATI driver update, downgrade, then omega modded, always getting same problem.

I've tryed firmware upgrade to the latest from lenovo web site, nothing better.

I was thinking there were a lack of power, so i tryed a 300w power supply but problem persists.

What can i do?

This is my configuration:

Thinkcentre M50 8189-k21 celeron D 2.8ghz, 1gb DDR PC2700, primary 80gb PATA (not in original lenovo config), secondary 40gb PATA, dvdrw pata, XP Pro sp3 oem(completely reinstalled when i upgrade video card).

Just a hitch, run something like speccy or speedfan to see what the GPU temp is. If for some reason it's running to hot it will cause your PC to restart without a warning. OR do you already know it's not a heat issue? Most MoBo's will shutdown or restart when the CPU reaches 85c.

hi, thank you for answers; i check mobo temps but gpu is not viewable nor with program you suggest nor other programs i own.

mb temp is about 67c, fan is going normally slow.

gpu seems to be hotter with fan constantly running, but nothing to be alarmed.

in the evening i'll try to insert a big fan blowing to gpu, then i let you know what happens, but i think it will not be risolutive.

You might have a Heat issue then if your PC is around 70c. It should be around 40C idle. So playing a game or something to use the GPU up can get it to 85c quickly since its already at 70. It can easily jump 10c just by starting a game.

Two fans added decreases temp very much, either in motherboard and GPU, but hang persist. I try system without radeon, using integrated 865g, and all works fine. I'm again thinking it's a low power failure, i'm going to try a powerfull supply.
