M58 7244 Power Supply

Am surprised at the lack of any response to my M58 questions.  Anyway, my question now is, can the anemic 280W PSU be replaced with a 350W PSU?  That would allow for replacing the anemic on-board video with a more useful card via the PCI slot.

Re: M58 7244 Power Supply

Hi CorkyG

If the PSU is the same size as the current PSU and has the correct amount of pins then sure there is no issues.

The only issues are using a lesser wattage or a PSU that doesn't fit.

Hoped I helped any.

Re: M58 7244 Power Supply

Hi CorkyG,

You can use following Power supply.

  • 280 Watt (Exclude Japan)
  • 280 Watt (Japan), 80% plus, auto-sensing power supply unit
  • 450 Watt (Japan), 80% plus, auto-sensing power supply unit
  • 115 to 230 Volt; 50 to 60 Hz

Best Regards,

Tanuj

Re: M58 7244 Power Supply

Thanks much for that info.  It is useful.  Looks like the key factors are:

1.  Physical dimensions

2.  Compatibility with the motherboard connector.

That will open the door to replace the on board video with a PCI card that will then allow display of animations.

Cheers!
