Upgraded to M91p and lost RS-232 connectivity.

Hello;   This is my first day registered and first post.  I've attempted searching for M91p issues related to mine and found I had to create a topic.  My apologies if I've missed an archived topic related to mine.

(Background)

I have a weigh scale (Cubiscan-150) that uses a 9-pin null modem cable....pins 2,3,5 only.  I have 3rd party Freight Software to pull the carton weight and dimensions into the software (written in Foxpro) and uses MSCOMM32.OCX.  I copied the Freight Software to each system and registered MSCOMM32 ...it communicates perfectly on the HP Compaq (desktop) Pentium 4 running WinXP.  It also communicates perfectly on the Lenovo T60 laptop - Centrino Duo running Win7.

(Problem)

I upgraded my desktop to the Lenovo Thinkcentre (core i5) 32-bit  M-Series (M91p, 4518-E4U) / Win 7.  Freight Software no longer communicates with weigh scale.  Troubleshooting, I upgraded a new desktop to the Lenovo Thinkcentre (core i5)  64-bit  M-Series (M91p, 4518-E4U running Win7.   Freight Software doesn't work.

(Troubleshoot)

I immediately plug RS-232 back into my XP desktop and T60-Win7 laptop  and it communicates the weight without issue.  I registered MSCOMM32.OCX properly on the M91p...followed steps as I did when I copied to the T60 and HP Compaq so my research has lead me to this forum.

I have ruled out Windows 7 as the issue since it worked on the Lenovo T60.  I also made sure to download the latest BIOS but it was already up-to-date and did not require a download.

I believe I've narrowed it down to one of the following:  Chip-Set, Drivers, or  MSCOMM32.OCX .  I am leaning toward Chip-Set and Drivers being the issue since MSCOMM32.OCX worked on the T60 running Win7.  But again, my knowledge is limited to the troubleshooting I've performed above.

For the purpose of this forum please consider me of novice to intermediate skill set.

Cheers!
