Upgrading of CPU M55 8808-CTO

Hi,

Can everyone tell me if I can change from my Pentium 4 531 to a Core 2 Quad Q6600.
The FSB is as required - 1066MHz.
On Lenovo's homepage only old CPU's are listed which aren't anymore for sale, like C2D E6700.

I'm still running one of the old 500Mhz FSB Celerons on one of these; did you have any luck upgrading to a Core 2 Duo? Or maybe a 1066Mhz FSB Quad? Sure would make my like a lot easier if I could.

i have tried the quad core Q6600 on my M55, and it didn't work.

Thanks for the info; shame it's not good news.

Does anybody know of an IBM service that would upgrade these boxes for us? They are still under extended warranty so the upgrade would have to be approved by IBM.

IBM depot can't do upgrade for you.
