Any motherboard suitable for Thinkcentre's cabinet?

i have an old m51 machine

the performance was not enough any longer

but i still love its look(especially the IBM logo)

 

can i buy any new motherboard (m-atx?) and processor to put in my old thinkcentre's case?

There is one problem you will have if you install any motherboard that is not an IBM one and that is the proprietry cable fittings for the USB ports are not the standard ones that are on most other motherboards.

You will not be able to use the IBM case USB cables with a non IBM motherboard.

 

That "little" problem makes a non IBM motherboard installation difficult.
