Auto-Detect does not work on Lenovo support site - IE9 64 bit

Question

I am running IE9 and trying to get the Lenovo support site to auto detect the model and type of the system I am using to access the website but it won't work.

 

I am using a Lenovo M58 model 7244-A34 running Windows 7 Pro. While in IE9 I try to use the Auto detect feature on the lenovo home page and I get the message lenovo can't auto detect and ask me to install 'Lenovo_Autodetect2_cab' I install this file and it still won't auto detect my computer.

 

Answer

 

There may be a current limitation / compatibilty issue with the 64 bit version of the IE9 browser.  As a work around / temporary solution, try using the 32 bit version of IE9 when accessing the site, or simply use the quickpath function and enter your model type.  In the example above, it would be "7244"
