Can the 280W power supply in a Small Form Factor desktop (e.g. M57p) be upgraded?

Hi,

I need to upgrade to a more powerful power supply in a small form factor desktop.  Anybody have any insight on which power supplies are compatible with an M57p?  Thanks!

I am in the same boat. I know that the M58p ships with a 480 watt ps but I can't seem to find if you can buy it retail from Lenovo.

And I am also looking for a similar solution.

I have a TC M51 that was manufactured I think in 2005.  It has a 310 W PSU which was fine for the machine as it was shipped.  However, I have filled up both PCIe slots with a sound and a video card and the other two PCI slots are filled with a USB hub and a fax/data modem.  Using many of the power calculators available on the internet I estimate that I now need between 400 and 500 W of power.... which may explain why my system spontaneously reboots every now and then while playing some games.

However, I cannot find a compatible more powerful PSU.  All of the aftermarket PSUs (Antec, EnerMax, Corsair) have different dimensions and will not fit in my case.  But on the Lenovo website I can only find the 310 W replacement for my PSU whereas I want to find a 500 W replacement PSU.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

BTW the power supply unit I currently have in my machine was manufactured by HIPRO model #HPA3108F3P
