Ethernet Controller Driver Issues

Okay, so I recently reinstalled windows XP sp3. (I have a disk.) Upon installation of this operating system, it seems that I am no longer able to use my onboard ethernet port. I have tried pretty much everything. I downloaded all the drivers from the IBM updates page, and I have also tried using the SystemUpdate thing that is also available. I got these by downloading onto a USB, then transferring. Only, It still says that it cannot find the correct drivers. Is there more that I am supposed to do? When I go to enter the bios to do system restore, like I have done before, it doesn't go to the awkward redish one I remember, that had system restore, but a gray, actual bios editor sort of thing. I am not 100% familiar with bios/ System restore, but I think it might be because I installed Ubuntu, then decided to go back to windows XP. Ugh. I just want help, because it's hard to do my school work without a computer that I can save stuff on. Any help/Ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Ghatii

What is the 7 character product number of your ThinkCentre? It looks like 2668-KHU and can be located on the front right panel or on the back of the system.

I think It's 8183 26U. That's the MT-M The S/N is *******

Once extracted the .exe setup is required to be run from C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\Q37Z47US in order to successfully install the driver.

Okay, I have tried the executable that I downloaded from where you told me. But When it starts to attempt to extract the contents of the .exe, it finishes really fast then an error message pops up that says, "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify it's integrity, and try again." I have tried this 4 times now. Re-downloading it each time and trying different external hard drives and flash drives.

Run some fitness test on your HDD, usually this error shows up when HDD is going bad.
