the pci-e is a lowpower slot for like audio cards but if you use the regular pci slot you'll be okay cause i have a s51-8171-2cu ibm and my nvidia geforce 6200 pci card runs good and have dual monitor and when i have windows 7 rc installed in can run one monitor on the onboard integrated video and one on two on the nvidia 6200 card so that' three monitors

In the Hungarian article they use a scotch tape to keep the cards pins from the board. The card is PCIE 16x and the slot has a form of a PCIE 16x slot (the motherboard recognise it at 16x), but it is not. That's why you have to get rid from that connection (not the pin, it is too difficult to cut it off).

How can the Intel drive be diabled?

Asuming you have another video card,go into the bios it's under Devices->Video and you have a choice of PCI or IDG and and when you boot in windows you'll also need to disable it in Device maneger

Hi All

I'm in the club

Today I install PCI Geforce FX5500 in my S51.

I read this forum, so I have update my bios to 2BKT53A

Now card is installed. 

On boot I hear one long and to short beeps.

After that system is booting, but both display is empty.

Just after windows start display attached to onboard Intel is show picture, and second display empty (no signal)

In device manager NVIDIA FX5500 appears with yellow !

(I'm running on Windows 7)

Now I'm installing vista.... Will see )

Hi Grinder,

I did that. However, Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor still says that my current graphics adapter will not support  the Windows Aero user interface.

Bios (Devices-Video Set Up) says:

"Active Video: NVidia

DVMT Graphics Memory: 128MB

Select Active Video:

DVMT 3.0 Mode: (DVMT)

Pre-Allocated Memory Size: (8MB)

Total Graphics Memory: (128MB)"

Just to remind you, the video card istalled was Nvidia Geforce 9500GS 512MB and that upon installing it, I covered with cellotape some of the gold pins connected (starting with the 8th (on the larger bar) pin onward- the smaller bar pin connectors were left uncover). I used this method after reading some of the generous tips provided in this forum).

What seems to be the problem? Do you reckon that the pins covering caused this malfunction?

I am afraid it did not help.

Now, bios says:

Windows 7 Upgrador repeats same message, saying that my gaphics adapter is not sufficient to run Windows Aero.

Maybe it is related to the method I chose to install the Nvidia 9500GS PC-e in (covering some pins with a cellotape. What do you think.
