I have an older IBM S42 (SFF) 831952U, running XP. It came with a floppy drive (which is somewhat obselete), so I would like to replace the floppy drive with a card reader. I bought one for about 30.00 and its dimensions are the same as the floppy drive, so will fit in the currently occupied space. It requires a connection to an internal USB port.
There appears to be one, which is currently being used. I haven't yet taken the computer apart, but it looks like the cable might run to the floppy. If that's the case, I should be able to just swap the two items.
Can anyone confirm that this internal USB port originally supports the floppy, and that it can be used for the card reader?
In the attached picture, you can see the colored cable that runs from, what appears to be the floppy, to the internal USB connector.
Thanks.
