Andy,
I feel you regularly and indiscriminately move posts from this forum.
If you want to discourage participation, you have succeeded.

ZipZap,
I presume that you are referring to this thread which I moved to the General Discussion board from the W series board?
Discussing and reviewing a hard drive is not a system specific subject and does not belong in the W series board, the General Discussion board is better suited for non system specific subjects and in this case especially because it's also not a Lenovo product or product marketed by Lenovo.
If you are not referring to the above linked to thread then please by all means provide me with more detailed information.
Andy

Hi,
One thing about your post Andy... I get
1. Discussing and reviewing a hard drive is not a system specific subject and does not belong in the W series board,
2. the General Discussion board is better suited for non system specific subjects
I don't get 3.
3. and in this case especially because it's also not a Lenovo product or product marketed by Lenovo.
What? Not sure what you are saying here. Do you mean in this specific case? As I'm sure Lenovo has no issue with us discussing third party hardware used with a w520 in a w520 forum :-).
Thanks

It's a product from Seagate which is not currently offered as an option customers could purchase from Lenovo, it's a third party option if you will.
Edit; just noticed that christopherlang edited the above post as I posted; There is no issue with discussing the drive at all.

Hi, Andy,
When you move a post, it serves to cut off discussion, as it is no longer visible to the intended audience, the W520 crowd.
Yes, I am discussing a generic product, but so do a lot of folks on the W series forum.
I think the forum would be better served if you let the discussions play out, within the bounds of good taste and reason.

And that's exactly why a placeholder was left with a link pointing to and informing all as to the thread's new location.

I will refrain from posting in your forum, as I cannot discern what you will and will not censor. I assume it is arbitrary and capricious.

Calling the moving of a thread from one board to another censorship is unfortunately the wrong use of the word censorship; the thread is there, uncensored, unedited and in it's original state, for all to see, read and contribute to just in another place than where you originally posted it for the reasons previously stated.

I personally think moves should be avoided at all costs if possible. The community contributor may not frequent another forum so valuable replies and additional follow-up or information may be lost.
I think you should actually consider the reverse. If you want to expose a thread and topic to another forum and community, by all means do so. But go to those forums and provide a link to the original. If people are interested, they can follow the link.
I see nothing wrong with a W Series owner starting a thread about a peice of hardware that works well with their machine. It will likely be far more interesting to other W Series owners and may solve a problem.
Moving confuses the original author and supresses the dialog.

No one has been prevented from reading or contributing to the thread. The thread has not been altered from it's original state and is now in the appropriate board for all to benefit from or partake in should they wish to do so.
