I am aware of that thanks for bringing that up, while the guru in question (sorry i am not allowed to mention him)thinks i am somehow personally targeting him for some reasons.

lead_org, i re-read the above posts and am not sure why vijay took your post negatively.   i didn't find any evidence of malice on your part -- only curiosity.

Why i have this logo is because i choosed it and wanted to test how the new avatar  works.I regret that you had to compare something by using my name,i totally feel offended. The best thing you should have done is contacted the MODS thats what i do..I am sure they will clear your doubts.

vijay, there's no reason to be offended.   lead_org was simply curious about your avatar since you're the only one (thus far) in the guru role who has chosen a custom image.   since this thread is about recent changes to the forum, it was appropriate for lead_org to ask his question here.   your use of a custom avatar or an indian flag aren't what was being questioned.   you didn't do anything wrong -- you were only being used as an example.

Re: Forum looks different today - what's going on?

Here's a bug...

When I visit the home page I open each subforum that interests me in a separate browser tab. After I've read the threads that interest me I select Board Options -> Mark all posts as Read (so that I can see how many new posts there are when I next visit the home page.) With the old forum this was a simple operation. Now there's a confirmation page that requires a click. Rather than waiting for this, I go to the next tab, read threads of interest and then select the same Mark all posts as Read option. When I've done this on all tabs I go back to confirm each one and then close it. The bug is that regardless of how many tabs I confirm, on the Read count of the last tab actually gets reset.

So not only is the new Read flag reset procedure a lot more cumbersome than it used to be, it also doesn't work properly :smileysad:

Erik,

Thanks for your clear explanation on this.

If you check my previous posts in the same thread i had two queries for mark but if you know something about it please let me know.

Regarding the subscription of threads i found the "email me" option was more convenient  when it was below each post. I have also mentioned the fonts issue as well is it a bug and going to be fixed? And when i got a new PM yesterday it was not showing a yellow envelope as it should,i think thats probably a bug too.

The button UI looks  smooth and nice - wanted to know which code was used to develop that was it EJB or J2EE?just curious  :smileywink:

The area describing the location of members looks dull too can it be emphasized?

right now we're just gathering a list of issues and improvements.   it takes a while for requests to be made to the programmers to get things changed.   graphics, typeface sizes, avatars, and stuff like that likely won't be changed until we design a proper UI for the forum rather than using a template.   what you see right now is a template and therefore has a few inherent issues.

we're working as quickly as we can... in our free time. :smileywink:

keep the suggestions and bug reports coming!

1)Will the new messages be indicated by a yellow envelope?I dont see that happening  :smileysad:

2) And what about kudos notifications :smileyhappy:  i mean getting emails about kudos awarded to a particular post

3)I frequently get this message like "authentication failed" miss matched ticket after trying to post something..

4) I would still like to see the "email me " option in the bottom, coz before i post a reply atleast i can see that i can come back if i get a answer!

yes, this will eventually be yellow like it used to be.

2) And what about kudos notifications :smileyhappy:  i mean getting emails about kudos awarded to a particular post

it's best to check your profile to see your kudos stats or visit this page.

3)I frequently get this message like "authentication failed" miss matched ticket after trying to post something..

i'm not sure what could be causing this.   are you leaving the page at any time and coming back to it before posting?

4) I would still like to see the "email me " option in the bottom, coz before i post a reply atleast i can see that i can come back if i get a answer!

when you post, there is a checkbox in the upper right-hand side of the page under 'subscriptions' labeled "email me when someone replies".

5)How is the UI going to change can u drop some clues here :smileyvery-happy:  Lolzz

we plan to change the graphics and move a few features around for easier access.

6) which platform are you guys using to code everything just wanted to know :smileywink:

notepad.exe.
