I face the same problem when I do the system update, after that I reboot it and do the system update again, and I think during the looping it is updating the system. You may wait for an hour, if still have problem, most probabily the hardware issue.

This loop happens in every startup - bloody irritating.. not to mention it will drain your battery! Any way to disable it? or replace the startup with a 'roving circle' so that we know the K1 is indeed booting up?

My motherboard was also replaced and this problem was corrected however, another was created. The OS that I have now is not the same as the one that was on the original unit. None of the Pre-Loaded Apps are here, there is no way to shut down running apps as before, no Lenovo App Store, no quick launch. Hell there wasn't even a file manager app, I had to do everything from settings. I couldn't even see the micro sd card contents. The tech told me that they will try to order another motherboard with the pre-installed apps. Why can't the current SSD drive just be flashed with this? Why must a completely new motherboard be installed? I just don't get it. Will someone please explain.

@Burger, thanks for the comments. The turn around time was only 2 days from the service center, but they had no intention of installing the apps. It was only after I brought it home and checked the unit then returned to them with the request that the unit be returned to me as purchased that they agreed to order another board. Its only 3 months old. The techs seemed to act like they had no idea what I was talking about until I logged on to their network with the tablet and brought up this Lenovo webpage http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/ideapad/ listing all the Preloaded Apps. Anyway, I did manage to install AndroZip and File Manager HD, to manage my files and I will go to their Facebook page and Shame the Hell out of them. Maybe it will speed things up.
