Regarding Andeers post about the "Windows cannot find the specified file" error when attemtping to install the APX drivers.

I am having the same issue. Have you found any solution for this?

I am running Windows 7 32 bit on a Dell XPS M1330 Laptop if that matters.

I had the same issue. I ran the 'flash_oldsbk.bat' as administrator, installer ran fine.

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) Vanilla

Hello fellow K1 users.  I have done a lot of research and am finally coming to you for some assistance.  I seem to be stuck in the same problem that some have you been in.  Below is where my ICS update is hanging.  I have tried the mentioned fixes with no success.  Also the links for getting the rooted versions from kanning seem to be down.  I am so scared now that i am looking for a stock K1 Honeycomb version for Lenovo.  If anyone has any guidance it would be so appreciated.  I have a nice brick sitting here in front of me and my wife is going to shoot me...lol.

Hello I am in the same exact boat as you, angry wife and all.  I downloaded the official vanilla ICS update from lenovo and attempted to install it in windows and it hung at the partition 12 UDA step, same as you.  I decided to forego windows altogehter and use linux instead, which I happen to have handy, and am fairly fluent in.  I repeated the process with ./flash-oldsbk.sh as the root user and wouldn't you know, it hangs at exactly the same spot.  This is not a windows driver issue at this point -- theres no windows os involved in the mix now.  My tablet is basically bricked.  I am using ubuntu linux 12.04.

Does anyone have any recommendation for what to try next?

Thanks

EDIT:  I was able to locate a copy of K1_Stock_120109.zip via bittorrent here http://rghost.net/37301511  and running it got past the format steps and its now uploading system.img so I think it's going to be unbricked shortly.

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) Vanilla

OK -- Replying to my own post.

After I successfully flashed the K1_Stock_120109 image back onto the device I tried flashing the official vanilla ICS release (again, ./flash_oldsbk.sh) and this time it worked!   My uneducated guess is that resetting it back to stock corrected whatever was wrong internally and the ICS release finally was able to install.

Here are the exact steps I took to correct the problem, including steps that probably don't matter.

  1. Download K1_Stock_120109 and extract the files
  2. Run the flash_linux.sh (or flash_windows.bat if you're on windows, as administrator)
  3. Follow the on screen instructions
  4. Once the flashing is completed, boot the device.  It took it about 5 minutes to get past the initial nvidia animation the first time in.  Once it got to the "Set Date/time" screen i powered off the device.
  5. Plug it into the power cord and let it charge to 100% or overnight
  6. Unplug power cord, plug in USB PC cable
  7. Turn the device on in APX mode ( plus/minus/power three button salute)
  8. Make sure your operating system sees the device come online ('dmesg' in linux, or device manager in windows)
  9. Run the flash_oldsbk.sh (or flash_oldsbk.bat on windows)
  10. Cross fingers and pray to the tablet gods that it gets past partition 12.

Good luck

I had this same problem. In the version of the APX driver I had, the inf file was referencing the two folders that came with is as amd64 and i386 and the actual folders I had were amd64 and x86. I just renamed my x86 folder to i386 and everything else went smoothly from there.

Cheers.
