Cannot download pdf documents

This probably sounds ridiculous to most computer experts but as a 78 year old tyro I am flummoxed to say the least. I recently took delivery of a lenova A 310 and have managed most of the setting up operations but I cannot get the beast to open pdf docs. I just get a message telling me my security system(McAfee) will not let me open it. Any help out there?

When you say .pdf files, did you receive them in attached files in an email, or did you try to download them from the net ?
