Hello!
I purchased a Lenovo Ideacentre B310 All-in-One desktop three months ago. I notice there is a Firewire (IEEE 1394) port at the back of the machine but none of my Firewire cables (4-pin male/4-pin female) are compatible. I need to connect my Sony camcorder (which takes a 4pin male Firewire/iLink connector) to the desktop to capture video.
I consulted Lenovo online support and was unhappy with the interaction as the executive seemed more unsure than I was.
Help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello mate,
The B310 has a normal firewire port (right), your cable is a mini firewire (left)
You just need an adaptator.

Thank you very much.
I'd like to purchase an adapter on ebay. I've been a bit of a moron and purchased three identical Firewire cables already! Can you tell me what specifically I must look for?
Many thanks!

Sorry, folks. But this solution doesn't work.
The Firewire port at the back of my computer has a 4-pin male connector. I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing defect because none of the good customer service reps at Lenovo have been able to help me locate the right kind of cable for it - all the cables I have located have male connectors at both ends. My camcorder takes a 4-pin male connector, and ideally my PC should have had a female connector, but for some odd reason it has a male connector.
Meanwhile, time is running out for my video projects. I know I need a 4-pin female connector to hook up to the desktop, but no cable I've seen has one.
I'd really appreciate it if someone from Lenovo can help address this issue...

Can you post a photo of this connector ? It will help.

It's hard to say what the Firewire connector looks like based on page 4 of the manual; you're absolutely sure that it's the IEEE 1394 Firewire connector?
http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/UserGuide/
According to the manual, the connectors/ ports going from left (center/ stand) to right (edge of the display) are:
1.) Power
2.) PS/2 keyboard
3.) 1394 Firewire
4.) Ethernet
5.) TV Tuner (on selected models)
6.) USB ports (4)
7.) Wireless reset button
Hope that helps,
Walter
