The various promo videos seems to indicate the DVD/Blu-Ray drive on the BU/CU/DU models are detachable, but it is not mentioned anywhere.
Is it being powered by the USB?
Can it be detached into two separate pcs?
I'm hoping it can.

I see gallery pics on this page:
http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/desktop/ideacent
One says:
"Front, back, top, and bottom views with clip-on optical disk drive."
Very interesting! But, I too find no mention
of HOW to separate, if possible. Will keep an eye open.

Yes, the DVD/Blu ray on Q180 are detachable. And yes, it is being powered by USB.
I just get a DVD-RW version early this week, I am planning to do some upgrade like replace a 4GB ram and Blu ray combo drive.

Hello,
I have a Q180 31102 CU but I didn't find how to detach the DVD drive... are you sure the drive is detachable on this one?
Thanks!

Received my unit last Friday. They are snapped together like the calculators, so you have to be a bit daring the first few times. First remove the USB adapter on the back, then apply some shear stress on the two parts, and avoid applying force on the ON/OFF and eject buttons on top of the units while separating them. ![]()
For anyone whose interested, the supplied VESA mount in the BU (CU/DU too) are not adjustable to hold the AU version with the drive removed.

Hi,
I bought a Q180 but without the blu-ray combo. How can I purchase one? I can't see any in the accesories section...
Thanks
