K330 Motherboard replaced but need help.

I got the motherboard replaced from the recall.  But the problem is the tech did not put in the Model # and serial on the motherboard.  Is there any motherboard manuals that might tell me if the specs have been upgraded etc??

Re: K330 Motherboard replaced but need help.

My motherboard was replaced due to the recall also and this unknown information stinks! My PC beeps and complains after every reboot and tries to boot off the network. Since there are invalid entries, it doesn't even look at the BIOS settings which tell it to ignore the boot from network option. I'm thinking that it may have been wiser to keep the defective motherboard instead of getting this "fixed."

Re: K330 Motherboard replaced but need help.

As mentioned in the original posting by skimore, Lenovo's replacement motherboard doesn't have valid information for the PRODUCT and SERIAL NUMBER in the BIOS settings. This makes our IdeaCentre boxes unhappy. When powering up, the BIOS complains about the invalid information and beeps unhappily. It then ignores the booting settings and tries to boot from the network, which fails. Finally, it boots from the hard drive and continues normally.

This problem with the PRODUCT and SERIAL NUMBER caused Microsoft to reject my previously working installation until I called them. Replacing my motherboard with a working one is not the same thing is installing a new one.  Anyway, I assume Microsoft was unhappy due to the unknown PRODUCT and SERIAL NUMBER, also.

Re: K330 Motherboard replaced but need help.

[ Edited ]

Nice that Lenovo has not been able to help.  I'm a IT Director for a mid size company and I have ALWAYS promoted Lenovo products mainly because of their IBM background and support.  This year something has changed and Lenovo has taken a down turn on the support and product side.  With all the HP issues I started to think about moving to Lenovo for our desktops and servers.  But for some reason Lenovo has been unable to help me on a personal level!

So you guys tell me can I except the same service for my enterprise where my job is at risk??

Hi skimore!

What did Lenovo support say? They refused to help? Not setting the product and serial sounds like an error made at the motherboard replacement. Setting them requires a service tech site visit or returning the system, depending on the warranty type.

Re: K330 Motherboard replaced but need help.

I will call support again and go thru the process.  They always seem to want me to send the computer back even with my on-site support upgrade.  My problem with sending it back is I replaced the 1G hard drive with 1 SSD 64G drive and 2 2T drives.  And I really don't trust them with my data.

Remove the drive before you send it. Tell them. They don't need it.

Re: K330 Motherboard replaced but need help.

I am having the same problem after my motherboard was replaced. The boot scenario has no idea what to do, no info on the MB either. I am getting pretty fed up.
