No soubd from Q180 HDMI or Digital Optical !

Hi just purchased one of these(UK) and have it connected to a Samsung 27950 TV/Monitor.

I have it connected via HDMI and optical,but cannot get any sound through either cable!

The operating came pre-installed Windows 7 Premium 64bit.

Can anybody help please?

Does your TV have a specific HDMI socket for PC connections (my sony does). Tried moving to a different HDMI port?

Are you using the monitor for sound or external speakers? - check in windows which is the default sound/speaker device.

Hi,thanks for your quick response...the HDMI socket that i used was marked as HDMI/DVI and the picture quality is awsome,now i tried HDMI 2 and there is sound but the picture quality is awfull!
also the default sound is HDMI

I have a reciever between my tv and ideacenter and there was a an audio setting on the pioneer stereo that needed to be set to "PASSTHROUGH" that fixed my sound not coming through.  Hope that helps.
