Hi Guys
Trying to install windows 7 Ultimate N (legit version) on a new clean Q180 via a USB stick.
The stick has been prepped wihtthe MS tool, and managed to figure out a way around the "CD/DVD drivers" error message (switch USB ports), but when I get a few steps on to choose a partition to install to I get stuck again.
The screen shows 3 partions - a partition called Lenovo (13GB), an empty unformatteed partion (~480GB) and a system partition (25GB) . Sizess are from memory, so may be a bit out.
When I choose to format the 480GB partition, it works (well, it thinks for a bit and then seems to complete), but when I go to hit next, it says it cannot create the partition. Have tried several times backwards and forwards, and differerent partition sizes for the new partition, no joy....Any ideas?
I have built 10s if not 100s of PCs before, but the last one was a few years back, at this point if this was a deskop I'd whip the drive out and format it on another machine, but want to avoid opening the 180 so soon! ![]()
Also, would like to think things have gotten easier, not harder since then!!! ![]()
Thanks in advance
R

Hi
Welcome To Lenovo Community
Please try deleting the complete partion and then create fresh ones
If USB drive is not allowing you may try same using a Windows OS CD
Or you can create a fresh bootable USB for instillation and try

Hi
Solution would be to plug the USB stick with the Windows 7 installation into one of the USB 2.0 ports rather than an USB 3.0 port. Windows 7 installation media doesn't currently have the necessary USB 3.0 drivers.
May be this is causing the issue
