I wanted to add a second drive to my IdeaCentre K210 57083393. I received this computer from Lenovo because my K100 could not be repaired.
When you open the box there is a spare blue plastic bracket to help you easily install a second drive.
When I installed the drive I got an error message that said "Warning: There are more than one disk, Protect System isn't in boot drive, this will cause protect system failure". There were no other directions so I hit the enter key.
Windows started loading correctly and the program loaded the driver software for the Seagate drive. But the computer did not show that there was another drive when you looked at Windows Explorer or clicked on COMPUTER.
I called Lenovo and they told me they had a message, which they sent me, that tells you to install the second drive in SATA slot 4. I did this and it created another problem.
1. The computer DEVICE MANAGER shows that there are two hard drives and correctly identifies them by make and model.
2. If you click on COMPUTER it shows the new device as a "removable disk", just like the media disks that read SD or MS or other removable memory modules used in cameras.
3. Just for the heck of it I tried to copy and paste a file to the "removable drive". It did not work.
4. I called the Lenovo number again, and ended up with another lady who tried several things but ended up telling me that the problem was the Seagate hard drive and that I should contact the drive manufacturer. I did not believe this to be the problem.
5. I then went to my old Lenovo K100 computer, removed the Hitachi 320 Gb hard drive and installed it in the K210. I still have the same problem. On start I get the "protect system is not in boot disk" error and when Windows loaded, the drive showed as a "removable" not a "hard drive".
6. COMPUTER only shows one drive in the top section "Hard Disk Drives" and everything else in the next section, "Devices with Removable Storage". The same goes for Windows Explorer. Just for the heck of it I tried to load a copy and paste file but that did not work. The computer thinks it is a removable media drive,
7. I then took the second hard drive and put it in a SATA to USB adapter, plugged it into the front USB plug and the computer recognized it and it is designated "Local Disk (D).
8. I then added a second DVD drive to see if it might be a bad SATA Port 2 or 4. The DVD was recognized the second DVD with no problems.
My big confusion is why the device manange correctly identifies it as a hard drive while COMPUTER and EXPLORER think it is a removable storage device. At boot up the BIOS shows both drives and both DVD's.
Any suggestions? Lenovo has no idea what the problem could be.

I called Lenovo twice. They told me that I should find a SATA drive that has the master/slave jumpers. When I told them that that did not exist they said to get an IDE drive and a SATA to IDE adapter.
I have been able to get the computer to recognize the second drive but still get the warning message when I turn on the computer.
The last guy I spoke to told me he had no idea what "Protect System" was and why it would be or not be on the boot disk.
I had hoped that a moderator would have some suggestions.
