I figured out a way to disable the three buttons on A1, it's complicated thou:
1) You need to ROOT your A1;
2) install app "Root Explorer";
3) Install app "Button Savior" from Google Play (Why did they change the name from Google Market??!!)
4) Config the "Button Savior" as you want, and MAKE SURE IT WORK FOR YOU!!!
i.e.. Make sure the new soft HOME/RETURN/MENU buttons work with no issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now continue . . .
5) Go into folder /system/usr/keylayout (on A1) with "Root Explorer", make sure the access mode is "R/W" (write access);
6) Update the files: qwerty.kl and mg-capacitive.kl with a text editor installed on your A1, to:
comment out (with a leading #) lines for designing the BACK, MENU and HOME, they should be:
key 158 BACK
key 139 MENU
key 102 HOME
(maybe there is wording "WAKE" in the lines)
After the changes, these lines should now look like:
#key 158 BACK
#key 139 MENU
#key 102 HOME
Save the changes.
Restart your A1.
DONE.
(Can anyone create an app to toggle the # in the files qwerty.kl and mg-capacitive.kl on and off??)

what other post? just seems an odd idea, they serve useful functions...
I think he is replacing them with soft keys.
