Ideapad A1 - Calendar application does not work

After starting up my ideapad A1 I keep getting repeatedly the same error message: "Sorry, The application Calendar Storage (process com.android.providers.calendar) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again "  I press the "Force close" button, which is the only option available, but after some time the same message apears again and again. The same happens when trying to open the Calendar application.

Thanks. It worked. I still do not understand however why the problem occured in the first place since I have not been using the Calendar application at all.

Is there any way to synchronise this calendar with MS-Outlook on my PC?

The database may have been empty, but it still could have been corrupted by a crash.
