When and where the USB Host Cable for Ideapad K1 comes out?

I have been following this thread since mid February. Frustrated and annoyed at this product's unavailability, this thread was the only online source of current info. At one point, I was checking this thread daily, for info of where to buy. Well, my perseverance paid off, and I received my cable 4/6 (ordered 3/1). I ordered from Provantage when they first listed the item for order (albeit backordered). Not sure when (or if)  Provantage was going to ship, I tried to order from Lenovo's chat service the other week when others were successful in ordering. On three tries, the chat rep told me they were "sold out" due to the influx of orders that day. That pissed me off, as others were ordering. I called Lenovo CS sales in the am and the order was taken politely and without issue (expected to ship 4/10). So I may have a second cable coming soon.

For those still waiting: I have found the following things working/compatible via USB:

USB Wireless Mouse

USB FlashDrive (8 Gb was the biggest I tried)

USB keyboard

USB external HDD (1Tb)

USB guitar recording... lags tho'

What else?

There's a link posted for Macmall a few pages behind. There are 4-5 different places, all under $11. Macmall, provantage, alvio, pcsuperstore, pcconnectionexpress, etc.

By the way, I placed my order with lenovo on 3/21 and I got the email that the order was shipped yesterday! Scheduled to be delivered tomorrow by end of day.

Quick question:  Will this cable also charge the tablet while it's connected to something with a USB power source?  Or are we still stuck with a separate charger cable for charging and separate cables for USB connections?

The charging voltage required is higher than USB voltages, so the charger gadget is required.

Sounds like a pretty big pain that the device can't charge while it's connected to a pc. 

I'm currently developing apps and using this tablet for testing and I have to disconnect it from my pc to charge it, which prevents me from being able to debug/develop on it.  Is this quirk (needing a separate cable for charging that takes up the only interface port on the device) specific to this tablet or are other tablets such as the Galaxy the same way?  Is the community just happy enough to have a way of connecting USB peripherals directly to the device via this new cable that they've suppressed their annoyance over the fact that the only way to charge this thing is with a special cable that plugs into an a/c outlet? 

If I had known about this before I bought it, I wouldn't have bought it.

I ordered one of these today from the Lenovo website after it showed up doing a search for the part number and was able to put it in the shopping cart and complete the order. Didn't need any help with "CHAT" to get it ordered and they claim it should ship today. We shall see.

Did anyone try to connect the new USB host, to a male/male USB and a USB AC adapter? maybe we can charge the tablet with this cable...

I will let you guys know on Thursday as my cable is due to arrive tomorrow.

I'd like to know why the expected ship date for ordering off the website is today when my order placed 14 days ago still has not shipped and is showing an expected ship date of May 10.  I can understand some supply chain logistical issues (I deal with that at work myself) but never anything to this extreme.  If the expected shipping date is today then I would assume that Lenovo has the inventory on hand in their warehouse.

It is really frustrating to not have this item when the website is taunting shipment today.
