3 Cell S10 Battery last Just Over An Hour???

I have an S10 and looks like my 3 cell battery last luckily 90 minutes, but average a little over an hour. I am connected through wifi. Is that the true average time or is there something wrong?
Any tweaks or settings I should do to make it last longer?
Advice and info appreciated, thanks.

Re: 3 Cell S10 Battery last Just Over An Hour???

to increase battery life:

1. disable wlan and bluetooth whenever not in use

2. decrease the brightness of the screen

3. use the power saving profile (or balanced)

[ Edited ]

Hi, to you or all in community.... :smileyhappy:

if you want ....come with me

....to a little jungle... :smileyhappy:

[Energymanagement]

excursion......into the deep......
my ....suggestions to get laaast longer...battery life...

prerequisite is a good running  XP Home system..... 3 simultanious virusscan ... 4-5 automated updatescanner ...many autostart programs 3 or 4 messenger same time...

and processess in background.....you should no wonder ...why....battery time didnt reach the max... :smileyhappy:

battery depends on which factory 2-3 different oem factorys assemble cells together for lenovo.. due industry standard differences (+/-5%)
...some batteries lasts longer some shorter... could be in words 10-15 mins difference to standard or 20-30mins from bad case  to good case thats a long time.... even you have only a 3 cell battery ...

so enough introduction words...

lets have a look what & where we can optimize...to get the most of..batt...
If you have more memory inside (2GB) ... so energy consumption harddrive access is lower...
if you set the system properties--> Advanced--> virtual mem-->advanced-->Virtual memory -->to 0MB
so XP ...no swap file on harddrive...

if you use a external backup... you can set the XP system recovery off on all drives.

.
Points.. :smileyhappy:

activate hibernation (sleep) ... click right on desktop -->screen saver-->energymanagement-->hibernation (sleep)
tick (check) activate hibernation (sleep)...apply
..thats for the system itself... (its not at all... but helps :smileyhappy:

.
at start if you dont use the webcam.. you can switch if off by Fn-ESC
must do this
because the cam is running always.... unlucky the is no other option..
hard switch off / on (like the green wireless button)...
... (if a self-written routine at startup can do this for you ...you are lucky),
i managed this by normal good-old finger-press Fn-ESC when iam on the roads with my S10e )

now to lenovos energy master control program :smileyhappy:  .. the settings .. in

 energymanagement ..

if you start it for the first time... there are 4 profiles

Performance - Balanced - Low Power - Super Energy Saver
with each 2 seperate sections running on battery or plugged-in
...each with 3 Settings and 2 sections for system and monitor..
while Super Energy Saver has one more advanced setting tab..
so ...you see there are not few parameter that effect usage of battery running time... :smileyhappy:

my settings..... are my suggestions you dont have to do this as a must :smileyhappy:
with 6 cell best reaching running time 7 hours : 45mins...on christmas eve..
(...bought the S10e at december 5th last year...as a gift for me :smileyhappy:
now duration mixed usage 5:50h to 6:15h ... max.brightness/wlan min 4:30h
but keep in mind i have 6 cell batt with 52WH .....

....

my setting....detailed....

There are 6 Section to Switch on off...
Depends on usage...i leave this....

LAN card (i use wireless only so ) choose off
PCMCIA (greyed)
Wireless LAN Card choose on
Color Quality choose high (16,7 M colours) (medium is 262k colours)

so thats all...

but not at all..

.
keep in mind that the first 3 - 5  of battery charging / uncharging times
are important for the overall lifetime running time...
running on battery long as the machine is shutdown by itself...
and charge fully overnight while machine is off (leave it alone)
is better than charging while working with machine...

hope that my little battery life excursion... isnt boring you so much....

sincerely KalvinKlein
