I'm having trouble getting additional memory recognized on my S10-2 or S10-3 / S10-3s system. Thoughts?
It is recommended that the system BIOS be updated to the lattest level - support for some 2GB modules has been improved in more recent BIOS versions. Be sure to cold boot the system before applying a BIOS flash.
Be sure that the correct type of memory is being installed. Some S10-3 models accept DDR3 memory and some use DDR2. Look up your specific model on the Lenovo PSREF sheets to confirm which type your system accepts.
Memory table Ideapad S-Series S10-3
All Intel Atom could be upgraded up to the max. 2 GB of memory due limitations
But there are different memory modul in use that depends on different CPU & model
Intel Atom N450 and N470 will support S0-DDR2
memory slot will fit a memory with 200 pins notch near more to one side
Intel Atom N455 and N475 will support S0-DDR2 or S0-DDR3
in Ideapad S-Series there is used memory slot for fitting S0-DDR3
memory slot will fit a memory with 204 pins notch more in mid to one side
Here is a list of some modules that have been found to work well. (Lenovo recommends the use of official Lenovo optional memory to ensure compatibilty)
If other types of DDR3 memory do not function properly, it may be that they do not properly clock down to 667 mhz.
