Thanks for all the suggestions, I have tried disabling hardware acceleration, some sites seem to work others dont. I think I'll contact lenovo directly. i dont have a dvd drive to make to recovery discs but thnks for the suggestion. How are lenovo support to deal with?

I'll be interested to know if you find a solution. I've had the S12 for about a year, and I've been quite disappointed in its performance. It's laggy, and applications frequently become unresponsive for seconds at a time. It's been that way since I got it, and I haven't found anything that makes a difference.
My daughter has a Lenovo S10 netbook, which is older and less powerful, and its performance is much better. The S10 runs XP, so I can't help wondering if Windows 7 is just too much for this machine to handle.

i found a solution for this, i installed xp professional sp3 and was amazed how fast it was compared to the windows 7 op system
no lag cpu was never maxed out unlike when using win7
