Problem with s10 express card slot

I installed a RS232 Expresscard into lenovo S10 with new bios 94 and now I allways get the boot message

(with and without the card):

  Error
Warning: IRQ not configured - PCI on Motherboard
  Bus:00, Decive: 1C, Function: 02

I tested this Expresscard with Dell Inspiron 6400, Panasonic Toghbook cf-73 and ACER notebook: no problems and no errors!

other people have same problem posted in this forum

Re: Problem with s10 express card slot

Hi,

I started the thread you are referencing to.

What happened in my case:

With the latest BIOS, my notebook doesn't hang anymore during booting, however, the error message and the beep are still there.

In WinXP, the card doesn't work, when it was plugged in during startup. It only works, when I plug it in after the message and the beep occurred. Nice, isn't it?

I had the same reason to buy it: using the express card and now it doesn't work.

Support from Lenovo is a bit below zero: they announced to take care of this. That's it.

Any idea, what we could do except pleading for help?

Regards,

Rainer

Re: Problem with s10 express card slot

I have had the same problem with my S10 and contacted Lenovo support.  Their first attempt  to fix the problem was to replace the motherboard. Ten days later when the unit was returned to me the problem was fixed.  About two weeks latter the problem returned with another express card.  I again contacted Lenovo support who suggested returning the unit for second motherboard replacement.  I told them this was unacceptable.  After about 15 days the faulty unit was replaced with a s12.  The comment upon replacing the unit was they don't know if the same problem will happen with the S12 but if it does they will have to replace the motherboard. To date I have not used a express card with the S12 for fear of the issue retuning.
