@Angry_Midget: Your story is basically the same as mine. I also used patriot at first. Did not work for me either. Send a message to Cleo_Lenovo with your machine model and serial number. The more people who do this the faster the issue is likely to be addressed
PM sent to Cleo_Lenovo.
Also, I'm glad you posted about the Kingston RAM. I was going to exchange my Patriot for Kingston. Now I know it's not worth it. This is really getting irritating. When we finally find out what 2-GB version will work, it will sure be flying off of the shelves. ![]()
BTW, what does Lenovo recommend? I haven't even looked at their upgrade options.

Is this the recommended Lenovo RAM? (mine uses DDR3 at 1333 MHz)
$100 though. ![]()

Hi All,
The team is aware of this case and now investigating it. Appreciate if you can provide me the info i requested earlier. Also, please provide me the memory bar code or memory part number too. Something like this: M471B2873FHS-CH9 (Samsung).
For now, there are two type of RAMs that a few of you mentioned it works: Ramaxel and Samsung.
Angry_midget, I am not sure that one can fit your s10-3,s10-3s. My advice is do not try first as i do not find any memory stick listed under s10-3 in the site.
Keep you posted.
Regards,
Cleo

Getting back to the Kingston ram question, they have a value line, which previous posters have said will fail. They do have a recommended version for the S10-3 DDR3 computers, which is here:
Can anyone confirm that this will/won't work? The price is about US$66, so I'm thinking of getting it. My computer is so miserable without enough ram. ![]()

I was told by the first person I spoke to at tech support that Kingston RAM was the only recommended RAM for the S10-3. That is why I tried the KVR RAM mentioned previously. If you find that it works, please give it a try!! ![]()

Memory table Ideapad S-Series S10-3
All Intel Atom could be upgraded up to the max. 2 GB of memory due limitations
But there are different memory modul in use that depends on different CPU & model
Intel Atom N450 and N470 will support S0-DDR2
memory slot will fit a memory with 200 pins notch near more to one side
Intel Atom N455 and N475 will support S0-DDR2 or S0-DDR3
in Ideapad S-Series there is used memory slot for fitting S0-DDR3
memory slot will fit a memory with 204 pins notch more in mid to one side

PC3-10600 DDR3-1333 SDRAM Clock Speed: 166MHz, Data Rate: 1333MHz, Through-put 10.67GB/s
1333 MHz is devided by 2 equal 667 MHz so thats S10-3 with DDR3 runs 667 MHz

I bought a new S10-3 this weekend from Fry's in Woodland Hills, CA. (S/N: xxxxx, M/N: Qxxxxxx)
At the same time I purchased the 2GB upgrade and had them install it only to find out later that it didn't work.
So please add the following to the Not Compatible list.
Edit Hide Serial

I bought my S10-3 0647 at Frys in Santa Clara two weeks ago. Same problem. I tried 4 different DD3 RAMS from the store and none worked. Had the sales guy pull a new computer from stock and still it did not boot with 2GB of RAM.
I looked at the RAM inside the computer and found a source on line for the closest thing to it and still it did not work.
I called the Lenovo support guys twice, spent a few hours on the phone and they had no clue what the problem could be and they could not tell me what RAM would work. They seemd to thing any DDR3 1333 / 10700 RAM should wrok.
This is REALLY a stupid problem.
The Lenovo support staff needs to get its act together.
Frustrated !
Lenovo_Fan... well, generally.
The last, best shot that still did not work was
Samsung

Wish I'd seen this topic before I bought the 2GB stick. Thx to all for posting.
