No its not fixed. Lenovo ignored it for long enough to get away with it.

Bloody criminal but in the process they upset thousands of S10 owners and lost future business.....serves them right.

Bought a Lenovo S10-3 laptop today. The computer has a good chance of success, it is not manufactured in a cheap shiny plastic, and you do not have to rip up the whole computer to upgrade it. It has a wonderful keyboard and looks really nice. But we have the fan that pulls everything down to the bottom, it makes a **bleep** sound and never stop blowing. It was a failed purchase.

The latest BIOS does not solve the problem with the fan.

I have a question.  I put Windows 7 on my S10e, and since, my fan control attempts to quiet it town or just turn off the fan aren't working.  The fan is on all the time!  Any suggestions?  I know there was a potential fix in the BIOS v90 update, but I guess they never resolved the crashing issue and just deleted that version.  Any help would be greatly valued!

nevermind, i solved my own problem.  you can use the s10 fan control program under xp compatibility mode and it reads the temp and lets you control the fan.  success!

Slash is right - this is a factory defect .

Heatsink doesn't make contact with CPU. The interval between the processor and heatsink is about  1mm (1R-0R SMD inductor is too high).  Therefore, the processor and chipset is the thick layer of silicone.

Almost 2 years ago (post 932) I said exactly the above: hardware problem.

There is nothing that lenovo can do about that (apart from answering politely to all the frustrated customers) ). This problem is already history.

An so is this brand for me.

ok I have a problem too it sounds lik a motorcycle and drives me crazy i startet to stick a pin needle in the left side to stop the ventilator from turning, it worked unitl the pin head fell off and the needle disappeared inside the **bleep** machine. if anybody knows how to open the laptop, i wouldn't mind to take the needle out and replace the stupid ventilator. ibm i hate you for doing this too us, you stupid name lenovo is worth a piece of **bleep**
