Hi,
I just got a new S205 and I'm having a lot of problems with it having terrible wireless range. I was wondering if anyone had any similar issues or suggestions for a fix?
As an example, my other netbook, and S10 will get 4 bars with the router I'm using if I'm sitting on my bed. The s205 will get a patchy 1 bar connection which drops a lot when put in the same position. My bed is less than 5 metres away from the router.
In the same positions the S10 is able to pick up 10 or so wireless networks in the area, the s205 can only find 4.

the wifi ralink receiver s not the best on S205 (german S205 had different producer), but the lenovo default driver is old, so I solved installing new driver from Ralink site
http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=1
instal only the driver and not the utility to manage net wifi (not needed)
Now my situaton is better, a driver can't make miracle and the wifi module is not so good, but is better than nothing

i am experiencing the exact same problem...my thinkpad and mac powerbook have no trouble picking up the signal from the next room but my s205 only intermittently as internet access. sometimes it shows 4 out of 5 bars, but cannot connect.
i have installed updated firmware for my RALink RT3090 to no avail.
forgive my ignorance, but when users have said that the problem is with the antenna(s) and that they have resolved it, what specific action have they taken?

Just got my S205 two days ago. May I say, what a disappointment. Feels like a downgrade from my S10. My router works fine with my S10. But S205 just constantly have trouble connecting to the internet. It shows that it is connected (and very good connection also) to my home network, but often it's either not able to connect to the internet or it is super duper (unusably) slow. I have updated the driver for RT3090 wifi adapter. Don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? Thank you.

So I called Lenovo tech support. Was told that since my adaptor is able to pick up the network means it is not a hardware but a software issue and is not covered under warranty. That said, he still gave me the suggestion to retire my more-than-5-year-old router because there might be compatibility issue between a router that old and a new computer.
