Is there a way to shut the fan up when one is using windows 7?

I've tried using S10fanctrl,
to see if it works, I set it to manual - off.
since then my fan does not work anymore, not even during bios post.
now it idles at 80c, and constantly shuts off due to over heat.
Lenovo S10
Model 20015
Bios version 14CN94WW
please advise

That sounds similar to the battery detection problem. I would recommend to check if the problem can be solved with the same actions:
- remove AC-adapter and battery
- wait 30 seconds
- replace battery and AC-adapter
- test
- if it does not work, redo it with holding down the power button for 30 seconds.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I was ready to go to the service center.
It took a few tries, but eventually the fan came back.
Tried playing with S10fanctrl again and everything works as advertised.
I use MobileMeter to monitor speedstep freq, temp and batt watt drain.
When S10fanctrl set to manual - off, MobileMeter always reports 35c.
When S10fanctrl set to manual - Lvl3, MobileMeter always reports 80c.
Just FYI.

Does this program works on S10-3c?
I measured core temperature with CoreTemp. When I boot netbook fan doesn't work. After loading windows 7 fan is working. Until 55 degre fan speed is normal but after 55 degrees fan speed is increasing and working loudly. I upgrade the BIOS version from 3CCN09WW to 3CCN13WW. But this is doesn't work. What can I do for solve this problem?

Hi and welcome,
No that program works only on older model. S10(e) . Newer model like S10-3 (& s / c / t) will not work different chipset and fan control register...
