What is with the warranty on s10-e

I just received yesterday the s10e I had ordered--Model 4187-RVU.

On going to the Lenovo page about upgrading the warranty (which I would even consider doing to 3 or 4 year accidental, if the price was right, I was surprised to see that, one cannot upgrade the warranty at all!

http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/config.workflow:ContinueWarranty

(All one can do is add Computrace Lojack, which I have no interest in.)

Furthermore, on the regular warranty it lists for me, most of the parts are only warrantied for 90 days! That is screwed. Most laptops come with full parts and labor warranty for a year (some more), and one can purchase more.

Also, unbelievably, it gives a start date of my warranty as 10/09/2009. Wait a minute! I purchased the computer more than two months later than that! How can the warranty on a new computer start months before I purchased it. That is real BS.

What is going on with Lenovo warranties?

Re: What is with the warranty on s10-e

Thanks for the reply, Kalvin.

It was through clicking on that warranty upgrade button though, that I found out about this probelm in the first place.

But that does not explain why Lenovo lists my warranty beginning in October, when i purchased it at the end of December!

And there wasn't really any warranty upgrade available at all either, only the lojack stuff.

I guess I can call the phone number on that page, where I will probably have to wait for hours, before speaking to someone in China or India who will give me the run-around, and I will never get it resolved.

Anyone else here dealt with such warranty issues?
