is there any error message number? i didn't understand well, you tried to perform clean windows installation by pressing one key recover button but it didn't help, right?

hello ,
no there is no error message number .
my problem is just suddenly my windows crashes , and when i try to open my laptop normally , it didnt open and black screen with white writing , windows failed to load , becuse on file is corrupted and give the path : windows/system32/configure/
i didint remeber exactly .
so i read on the web that i can restore the laptop to factory settings by pressing the recovery key while opening the laptop .
i already did , and after half an hour the laptop respond and open the key recovery , so i choose system recover to the factory settings from the intial path.
i did it and it takes 1 hour , after the laptop restart automatically and said the same error windows cant load ..
i need to recover my laptop to the original factory settings
because it didnt open .
but without losing my data on the D: drive
i have 2 partition C: drive and D:drive
the C;drive have all the winodws file only
and the d:drive have my files
so i didnt want to lose because it is so important .

performing clean windows installation won't delete your files located on volume d.

is it xp, by the way?

it is not win. xp
it is windows 7 starter
and it is the small laptop , so there is no CD drive in it .
just i have the recovery button beside the power button on the left side .
it is ( S10-2 ) idead pad model .
please help .
the computer is not opening at all .
just write this error .
i have key recovery 7.0

Hello,

I recently got a new S205 from lenovo.  I created recovery discs so that I can restore to factory settings should the HDD die and I need to restore on a new one. 

1. Is whats on these recovery discs the same thing that is on the OKR hidden partition that will restore to original factory settings from the recovery environment should windows get corrupted?

I also did a system backup of the current drive creating a 348GB image file that was stored on an external HDD.

2. If windows is corrupted and needs to boot into safe mode, and i am trying to restore using this image file from the external HDD, (or the external dvd drive with recovery discs) will the USB ports be working in safe mode to allow this to happen? 

3. This is my first time using a system image file for backup (in the past I simply used syncback to save important files to an external HDD)  I am worried that should my S205 be lost or stolen, I cannot access individual files from the 348GB image file for immediate use on another computer.  Would it be wise to have a second backup of my important files (that are not stored in an image file) that I can transfer to another computer in the event my S205 is gone?  Also would this 348GB image file work as a restore on another computer, or new HDD? 

4. I would love to use the extra 28GB on the D: drive.  Can I use this as normal storage?  Is there anyway to combine this with the C drive (Delete the partition?) without changing the current data on the C drive or affecting the OKR?

- if you burn "factory defaults", yes.
- if you need to recovery current backup, you can start-up your computer by pressing one key recover button, so you don't need to load safe mode.
- 348gb image file will work on same computer ( another s205 ) and/or on bigger hdd but it won't work on another computer. so, i suggest you to back up your files to external hdd by using copy/paste method.
- if you make changes on volumes, okr will stop working.
