Re: s10-3 WIRELESS PROBLEM.....

This whole affair is making me really angry!  I normally use linux, and this problem cannot be fixed without installing windows.  So I went to a lot of trouble recently to back up all my data and get a copy of windows 7 so that I could fix the problem then delete windows, as I have no other use for it.

Now I find that the lenovo energy management tool does not even run on 64 bit installations, despite the s10-3 having a 64bit processor.  Do I now have to go out and get a 32bit copy of windows?  Or will lenovo ever release a proper fix to this problem?

I have a netbook with no wireless until this is fixed.

Re: s10-3 WIRELESS PROBLEM.....

I have the same problem - My wireless does not start under windows 7 32 bit

I've bought this device today, with MeeGo installed, have tried wireless function and it worked

After that I have installed windows 7, have downloaded drivers from lenovo.com

Following drivers were installed:

1) Intel Chipset driver v 9.1.1.1016 (file IN1CHP02WW5.exe)

2) Realtek High Definition Audio Driver v 6.0.1.5958 (file IN7AUD11WW5.exe)

3) Lenovo Energy Management V 4.3.1.2 (file IN1EGC29WW5.exe)

4) Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver v 5.30.18.0 (file IN2WLN14WW5.exe)

I checked the hardware switch for wireless - it is in On Position

When I press FN+ F5, I see there Wireless Network Adapter, Current State =ON,

The value  in column "Parameter of the state" is OFF but it is grayed out, so I assume it is just a button for switching it off, not the state

So regarding to all this, Wireless should be installed and work, but it DOES NOT WORK

I checked the list of installed program - I have there Broadcom802.11 Wireless driver, Broadcom Gigabit Intergrated Controller, Energy Manager, Realtek High Definition audio Driver - that's all.

No Readycomm. is installed or something else

Where can be the problem?

The only thing that is not normal - when I open device manager I see there that Network Controller is not installed properly, it is currently in "Other devices" node. I could not solve this issue, so all needed drivers look to be installed

Please help, it is very urgent

Re: s10-3 WIRELESS PROBLEM.....

This appears to be a common defect with the S10-3 under Windows 7.

Switch of the wireless using the switch on the left side of the computer and when you switch it back on, your wireless is gone for good. Very annoying to say the least! Fn-F5 shows the wireless is ON but the wireless LED on the front of the computer tells the truth, i.e. you have no functional wireless network.

Switching off wireless on a netbook to conserve power is a normal function for any netbook or laptop. Not having the wireless fuction work when you switch it back on is a serious manufacturing defect. It is common on the S10-3 as any Google search will reveal. While the S10-3 uses different brands of wireless card,e.g the Atheros AR9285 and Broadcom wireless cards, the problem is common across brands. Clearly, the problem is a manufacturing issue that raises the issue of "fitness for purpose" for any netbook that cannot wirelessly access the Internet is a seriously crippled netbook.

Lenovo's obligation to all consumers who are owners of the S10-3 isvery simple, i.e.fix the problem and notify all registered users of this fix.
