s10 6 cell battery (celxpert LE60_c)

So I bought one of these 3rd party 6 cell batteries, and it works great, except that the S10 thinks it's being charged while the 6 cell battery is being used.

I guess it's not a big deal, but has anyone come accross this problem, and found a solution or fix?

Running on the factory installed XP.

Would be nice to know if anyone else is also having this problem?

i have no problem with 6 cells on S10 at all. it do show the real signal while i am charging or using the battery.. by the way, ur battery code same as mine..

Actually I figured it out with the help of some of the other s10 forums, if anyone else is having a problem with the S10 recognizing the new battery try this:

1. Shutdown the laptop
2. Remove the A/C adaptor (Plug)
3. Remove battery
4. Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds
5. Wait about 30 seconds more
6. Put the battery back in the laptop
7. Turn on the laptop

Now the laptop should properly recognize the new battery.

Hope this helps others out.

There's a lot of discussion on the 6 cell battery for the S10 in another Forum here. For those having problems with their battery for the S10, they may want to check it out. One of the major cause of the problem is moving the battery in and out when still plugged in to AC power.

It sure helped me.

My question now is: can someone explain to me what the about instructions do? Why hold down the power  button? Why 30 seconds? Why?

Is this some sort of cheat code ?

It is kind of like discharging and flushing the system. Pressing and holding down the power button is a sort of hard reset. Don't really know about the minimum length of time you need to hold it down, as long as it is more than just pressing and releasing as in normal switching on. I suppose 30 seconds is just a safe timing.
