K1 - Preloaded Apps having "force close" issue

Question

After doing a system update, the preloaded apps such as Amazon Kindle, Angry Birds are having an error message of "Force Close" when trying to open the app. Tried reinstalling however problem still persist.

Answer

Follow the steps listed in the KB to do a factory restore.  Be sure to back up all user data prior to performing the factory reset.

I tried something less drastic. Go to the Settings Menu, then to the Applications and Manage Applications menus. Find the application giving the Force Close message. Hit Force Stop and Clear data and reboot. You can at least see some progress one app at a time and not have to back up all of your data.

 

The backup and restore functions are cleverly hidden by Lenovo under the Privacy Setting in case you want to back these application up in case of further problems if you manage to get them working again.
