Re: HDD Advanced Format usage

[ Edited ]

it's better to call support line. you can ask the price and if the warranty covers that issue.

phone numbers : 0811 267 77 77 ( from mobiles 0850 251 77 77 )

( i called for recovery disks, support line in turkiye, they won't send any recovery disks, if system crashes they asked me to ship it back - still conditions may be changed, call them )

edit: before calling support line, try to burn recovery dvds, then try them.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Hello Everyone, just purchased a y460 - rain into trouble - and joined this group.

Here is my scenario

1) purchased Y460 (500GB hdd).

2) Created recovery dvd's using the OKR. The operation created 2 dvds

3) tried restore with dvd's. Failed at 19% of 1st dvd.error message: files not found.

4) Ended up no os on the pc as the contents were formatted(appears).

4) Called Lenovo support and explained problem. Got a new recovery dvd in mail.

5) I ran the recovery cd and installed os.

6) Looking at the hdd it appears that I have

   - c: 420.33 gb ntfs (healtht (boot,pf,crsh dmp,primary part, active)

   - d: 30. gb ntfs

   - e: 14.x gb

   -  f: 200mb

7) installed okr from support site.

8) tried the nova button. got message saying service partition not available.

9)I went through all the posts in this thread. and ran through the following

Open the command prompt (type CMD in the Search programs and files area of the start button)

             a. type “diskpart” and press “Enter”
             b. type “list disk” and press “Enter”
             c. note which one of listed disks is user’s HDD, type “sel disk X” (where X is number of user’s HDD) and press “Enter”
             d. type “list part” and press “Enter”
             e. note which partition is WinPE one and type “sel part X” (where X is number of WinPE partition (usually it is the last one and has the biggest number)) and press “Enter”.  (Mine was Partition 3, the 14GB partition, yours could be different)
             f. type “set id = 12” and press “Enter”
            g. type “exit” and press “Enter”

Anyways, after this, i donot get the service partition not available message via NOVO, instead it just boots to windows

I know the OKR partition is good, coz before i tried step9, I tried booting via that partition using the SmartBootmanager v3.7r1 and was able to get into the recovery screen but a DOS/CMd window opened up.

Is there any way, i can get OKR to work again?

Help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

[ Edited ]

I might have figured this one out and wanted to put the information out there for others to use

Problem: Recovery process using OKR Recovery CD failed. No OS on C:\..

Objective: Recover factory image and install on C:

Assumptions: Your partiions are not corrupted and the factory image partiion information is still on the HDD.

TechSpecs:

  • Y460, 500 GB HDD
  • Partition 0: C: ~420 GB (Boot,primary, PF,crsh dmp, Active)
  • Partition 1,2: D: ~30GB (Extended, primary)
  • Partition 4: E: - 200MB (System)
  • Partition 3: 14GB (This is where OKR stored all the factory image etc

1) Install an OS on the CD using vista, 7 *****(see bottom of this posting)

2) installed okr from support site. (Not sure if this step was necessary)

3) Using information posted in this thread, I executed the following

Open the command prompt (type CMD in the Search programs and files area of the start button)

             a. type “diskpart” and press “Enter”
             b. type “list disk” and press “Enter”
             c. note which one of listed disks is user’s HDD, type “sel disk X” (where X is number of user’s HDD) and press “Enter”
             d. type “list part” and press “Enter”
             e. note which partition is WinPE one and type “sel part X” (where X is number of WinPE partition (usually it is the last one and has the biggest number)) and press “Enter”.  (Mine was Partition 3, the 14GB partition, yours could be different)
             f. type “set id = 12” and press “Enter”
            g. type “exit” and press “Enter”

4) Doing Step 3 change Partition3 to OEM

5) After rebooting u'r drive, you will only see C:smileysad:420GB), D:smileysad:30GB), E:smileysad:200MB) on your available drives

6) Reboot using a boot CD and use a boot parition s/w (I used Smart Boot manager)

7) In the list of partitions, U will see Partition 1, 2, 4. with Partition 1 being active

8) Make Partition 4 as active and hidden

9) reboot

10) System should boot into the Recovery partition with the OKR user interface showing up.

11) Select option "System recovery".

12)This will reload the factory image onto the C: and reset the active partition back to Partition1

I havent been able to map this to the NOVO button, however, by manually changing the active partition to PArtition4 and booting into that, you can reinstall the factory image.

**** Not having an OS on C:\ basically allowed me to execute all the steps through 9. At step 10, it would boot into the recovery partition with a CMD window appearing on the screen location X:\windows\System32. I couldnt figure out a way to launch the OKR user interface from the command prompt and recover. If anyone figures this piece, please post

Hope this helps.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

@ cooler

have you ever tried to run one key recover restore under windows?

cause as i know, if you select to restore under windows, windows will shut down and one key recover system will boot.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

I have a Y430 with a 250gb hard disk (my system came with a 5400rpm WD) , and want to upgrade it to a 500gb hard disk (purchased a 7200rpm WD) with a factory image. I have search and attempted to follow the instructions for creating the factory recovery media but I don't have the options when I press the okr to create factory media. I would like to do this if possible without ordering media. Can anyone provide me some assistance or point me to a posting that I missed?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

i have V560 and i reparted my whole hdd. Now i see that i cant use OKR and this is sad. why there is no a small software to re-operate this OKR button. And why i have to use my notebook with pre-installed partitions. This is really not fair.

now i need to be sure. can i still use Lenovo backup with recovery CD?

What's DOS?
