Display issues on battery

[ Edited ]
When I play "Reel Deal Casino Shuffle Master Edition" with AC power, all is well. When I try to run this game, along with a couple of other graphic intensive games, on battery, the graphics portion hangs, stutters, and never really gets going. The game basically freezes with the exception of audio. I can hear underlying audio, but no video. I even lose my cursor. The screen is a garbled, chopped video mess. The only way to get back to the desktop is to Ctl-Alt-Del. EnergyCut is set to High Performance (even on battery). Now, as soon as I plug the mains back in, everything is fine.

Any recommendations?

Re: Display issues on battery

When you disconnect your power supply, look in your system tray, and find the power icon. Left-click on it and it should list three power profiles, "Balanced", "Power Saver", and "High Performance. If it's set to "Power Saver" then both of your processor cores are running at half speed. Select "High Performance" to play your games as you normally do when you are plugged in, however, you'll drain your batteries quickly. You could also experiment around with the "Balanced" power profile as well.

Re: Display issues on battery

Thanks A30N,

As I noted in my original post, "EnergyCut is set to High Performance (even on battery)." I have tried other modes, no change, of course. As far as battery life goes, I understand what you're saying. Of course I am concerned about saving the battery, but I would also like to get these graphic intensive programs running on battery. I also installed Sony Vegas Movie Studio. This program locks up immediately when switching to battery. Most programs seem to run fine under battery, it's just a few that don't. All power options are set to the highest performance available. All battery options equal all AC options.

Thanks for your help A30N!

Did you test it with uninstalled Energy Cut?
