Whether it be NVidia or Intel (my model doesn't have the NVidia in it), it doesn't recognize a connection at all. So, going through Win7's graphic properties or screen resolution has no effect as it doesn't even SEE the other monitor. It's not like we are stupid and have it set to the built in display only. And as far as the Intel graphic properties, it is just another interface that gives more options but gets its data from the same source. If Windows doesn't see it, Intel doesn't see it. It just has more options, like what a driver is supposed to give.
The issue is that the computer doesn't even SEE that something is plugged in. No notification saying that a new device has been detected so it doesn't scan for drivers. It's the same as nothing. I wonder if it is a hardware problem and if so, something should be done to resolve this. Even if it is able to recognize a few models, it seems to be having issues recognizing a lot as well. Mark stated earlier that his worked with a VIZIO television. I have a VIZIO and it's a no-go. It does however work on my friend's Sony BRAVIA television but not on my sister's, of a different model. The fact that not every HDMI device works with the HDMI is ridiculous. It's standardized and it should have no issues.

I've been waiting 2 months for someone from Lenovo to get back to me about this issue, still no reply! Guess its a problem they are hoping that will go away on its own as they are not jumping forward with solutions or updated drivers to sove this issue.
This is the first Lenovo Laptop I have owned and am not impressed.

I'm having the same issues. Got my Z570 from Harvey Norman last Xmas and had problems with getting picture via HDMI to Conia HD TV. Armed with info from this thread, I sat down to get it working and all off a sudden, without following any instructions, I had picture from the Z570 on the Conia TV - great! ![]()
Its been almost flawless for the last 4 or so months, with the exception of having to power cycle a few times (with HDMI lead disconnected) and place on standby both TV and Z570, reconnect HDMI and take both devices back off standby to gain picture.
BUT,....I did my usual tricks to gain picture on TV yesterday..... and it's gone back to square one, AGAIN! ![]()
I have stuffed around for the last two hours, trying all suggestions I can find here with no luck. Once I connect HDMI from laptop to TV, picture disappears from laptop screen and TV on HDMI source flashes quickly from blank screen to blue screen and back again.
Lenovo, please follow up on this, from what I see around the internet, I'm not the only unhappy customer of the Lenovo ideapad Z570 and it's HDMI issue.

Dear Lenovo User ,
Please kindly check the bios configuration menu which Graphics device settings is must be set to optimus or switchable graphics then F10 save and exit. It should not be set to UMA ONLY ! When you resart your PC make Nvidia device active with switch in picture below. It should pop up window that it is optimized and try HDMI. Please let me know if problem persists.

Same model laptop, similar problem. I was once able to connect through HDMI to both of my tv's, and now can not. The cable registers that there is a device there as I can see it switch from "no device" to "searching for signals"
It seems like this is a known issue, and it would be nice to have some sort of solution. They will be taking mine back and fixing this issue at their expense unless there is something that I am missing.

It's really hard to determined what the root cause is and i did speak to the support team and we came to the conclusion that at this point it best for all to contact the Lenovo support as they will be best to assist you accordingly.
Please do give our support call.

An update after one year, having used VGA since purchase.
I wrote to Lenovo just before my waranty expired, to record that I had had problems connecting my laptop to certain monitors via HDMI. I asked them to state which monitors, Lenovo or 3rd party, they could guarantee would work with my laptop. During a subsequent series of phone calls they were unable, or unwilling, to say.
I took my laptop to my local PCWorld and tried an HP monitor, but my laptop did not recognise it. I then tried a Samsung S22B350, which worked. I purchased this monitor.
I feel I was effectively forced to select from a limited range of monitors, as normally I would make my selection via reviews and them buy on-line. However, without being able to try a specific machine, I did not have the confidence to purchase this way.
I have been happy with my laptop, after one year's use, except for this issue. I have not been particularly happy with the responses of Lenovo "support". I firmly believe there is a problem with attaching some monitors to my laptop via HDMI, and it would seem there are several others experiencing similar problems.
To summarise I failed to get an HDMI connection with a BenQ and and HP monitor. It worked with a LaCie, Samsung and Sony Bravia TV.

BarryE, sadly you may find that the Samsung S22B350 may also develop problems. My Lenovo Z570 initially did not work with my Conia CPDP3201 31" Plasma TV Plasma TV. Then all of a sudden one day it just worked through the HDMI just fine. About 4 months later and the Z570 is having the HDMI issue again....and I changed nothing on either the laptop or TV.. Have tried all suggestions posted here with no results at all
Given the responses others have had from Lenovo thus far, I haven't bothered wasting my time and giving them a call.
