All,
Let's look into this. The first poster noted that the problem was with their particular display as it worked better with sony. Some of the follow on posts note the model display that is trying to connect to, but nothing about what has been tried via settings in control panel or BIOS.
I'll see what the HDMI set up looks like on this system and let's ensure that these are properly configured.
Thanks
Mark

All,
I tried out a Z570 connection via HDMI to a Vizio M220VA TV in our lab today. It worked fine for me.
There do not appear to be any settings in BIOS that affect this. The controls all seem to be through Windows and there seem to be a couple of paths that do essentially the same thing.
1) Attach the Z570 via HDMI to your TV or display.
2) Set the display input to HDMI
3) Boot the Z570 to windows
Setup Method 1
1) Right click the desktop and select "graphic properties"
2) Select Wizard mode
3) Next
4) Select either "extended desktop" or "clone desktop"
Extended mode spans the desktop from your LCD to the external, while clone simply duplicates (as you would expect)
Setup Method 2 (pretty much the same as above)
1) Right click the desktop and select "graphic options"
2) Mouse over the "output to:"
3) Digital TV
4) Select extended or clone
5) Set the order build in + digital TV (makes LCD primary and TV the secondary) your can also reverse this.
Note that FN + F4 will toggle through internal only, external only, or both
Ok - with all the easy stuff out of the way, we can move on....
If it still isn't working, go back to graphic properties and check the different resolution options. Ensure that your external display will support the resolution selected.
If it still isn't working, please confirm that you have tried the steps above, please include additional details on displays that you have tried to connect to, and which BIOS level and Video driver version that you are using. We will need this information to go further with a technical escalation.
Thank you for your continued constructive feedback
Best regards,
Mark

Hi,
I have just purchased a Z570 and am experiencing smiliar problems.
I have updated my drivers to make sure they are the current ones and am on version 285.62, I am not sure how to check my BIOS so if instructed i will tell you that.
My laptop is not recognising that a cable has been plugged in so on the Nvidia options or the windows display options I do not have the option to select a different screen. I have checked the HDMI to DVI-d cable is working and I am not sure what else it could be,
Any help would be great
Thanks
Nathan

I purchased a Z570 about 4 months ago. Recently purchased a new VIZIO television and want to use that as my monitor now. Unfortunately, my laptop doesn't seem to recognize the HDMI connection. It worked when I used my friend's SONY. I checked in my BIOS but there were no options related to display. And I checked the graphics properties which showed only the internal display. Tried the Win7 graphics properties and tried to detect a new display but nothing appears. I read the Lenovo moderator post that he used a VIZIO but mine does not seem to recognize the connection.
It's a VIZIO E422VL

No reply Lenovo? I would have been checking nearly every day for a fix but none has been offered as of yet. I stated my tv model, my laptop model. I don't know what version my BIOS is except it is the one offered in the downloads section. There is no options for display adapters in the BIOS. And following Mark's support does absolutely nothing for me because the graphics options will only show devices it recognizes and the laptop does not recognize a connection at all.

Ive got a Z570 and am having problems getting my laptop to connect to my "generic HD TV (Tested on my old laptop using windows Vista)".
Mark Hopkins AKA Program Manager, Lenovo Social Media, Your suggestions for connecting the external device up, very detailed, However it does not work.
I followed setup method 1 and 2.
Setup Method 1
1) Right click the desktop and select "graphic properties" ok, done this
2) Select Wizard mode
3) Next
4) Select either "extended desktop" or "clone desktop" yep, done this.......... still nothing happens!
Setup method 2,
1) Right click the desktop and select "graphic options" Ok, Done this
2) Mouse over the "output to:"
3) Digital TV does not show up, all i have is built in display and intel(R) WIDI
4) Select extended or clone
My drivers are as follows:
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Driver Version: 8.15.10.2509 Driver Date 31/08/2011. This is the most up to date driver.
Nvidia GeForce GT 520M Driver Version: 8.17.12.6754 Driver Date 06/03/2011. This is the most up to date driver.
I plug my HDMI lead into the Laptop and it does not recognise anything has been plugged in. I have tried pluging it in and powering up the laptop, Nothing happens.
I have paid out a load of cash for a good laptop that can connect via HDMI (My main requirement), is this HDMI connection real or is it just for decoration?
Is it controlled with the intel Graphics or the Nvidia?
Why does there seem to be little support on this aging issue?
I am being made to think about returning this laptop to PC World as it cannot do what it says on the box (Isn’t that fraud?).
If you require any more information, please feel free to contact me.
Cheers
Dave.
