Hello,
IdeaPad Y560, Core i5, Win 7 Home.
Since a couple of days I am running into this issues where my y560 shuts down while booting, within a few seconds. It boots completely only when the air conditioner is on and the room temperature is around 21 Degrees C / 70 F.
I saw this blog - http://www.lenovo-laptop-reviews.com/lenovo-y560-h
Yet it won't boot unless the room temperature is 21C / 70F. I have my exam next Friday and need the laptop desparately. Can somebody help me. Please. . . . . ![]()

Hi Madhu,
your problem seems to be related to heat, please have a look at this thread...
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-se
also may monitor your Y560 temperatures with Hardware Monitor 'no installation' free version...

and please post readings... Zehn

Thanks Zehn. Tht was my thought too and it is a heating problem. What i don't understand is can temp be an issue with in 10 secs from the time i press the power on button? Laptop shuts down with 10secs.
Last night i cleaned the fan and the fins.
With the room temp at 21C -
CPU - 54
ATI - 65C
Power management is already at Optimize for battery Runtime

Hi Madhu,
hmm... temp would be a wee bit on the high side for idle but OK for light use,
but if dissipation of heat is interrupted components get hot in no time..
the heat-pipes are mounted with 4 screws to CPU and 2 screws to GPU,
check if these may have come loose, but please be gentle and don't over-tighten them...
is the fan running, do you feel air being blown out thru the heat-exchanger vent?
As a last resort may need to apply fresh thermal paste...
keeping my fingers crossed... Zehn

Thanks Zehn. I really apreciate you responding so promptly. I presently live in India, so will need to dig a lenovo shop out but I will do the thermal paste. This afternoon i started my y560 without the airconditioner running and it booted. The temperature readings are about the same as i reported earlier. This time i have a laptop cooler fan blowing right below the laptop fan.
I will let you know once i reapply the thermal paste.
Thanks again.
MAdhu.

Yesterday I got in touch with Lenovo Support in India. He made me update my SMBIOS and that resolved this issue. You can get the update from - http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ot/en/driversdow
Thanks for your support and help.
