IdeaPad z580 heating issues

I recently bought this laptop, and it already has heating issues. It gets to 140 degrees fahrenheit when idling and 170 when playing games. I feel the fan blowing harder than it should when idling too. What could be the problem? CPU usage is about 1-5%, no overclock.

Re: IdeaPad z580 heating issues

is this brand new laptop or refurbished? did you experience this right out of the box? Can you try starting in safe mode?

Re: IdeaPad z580 heating issues

Brand new. At first it felt kindof hot, but I didn't pay attention to it. But after a few weeks I started to worry and downloaded a temp monitor. Gpu 60c without any activity, cpu 65.. And I smell burnt rubber

Re: IdeaPad z580 heating issues

so it happens all the time or in intervals? http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptop/lenovo-ideapad-z580.aspx has a nice comparison graph for some features and it has the laptop at ~88F.

Re: IdeaPad z580 heating issues

Sometimes, for 1-2 minutes it drops about 10f then immediately raises again. Very weird =/. I tried safe modus, still the same issue, so I guess it's an hardware problem.

Re: IdeaPad z580 heating issues

if it is recently bought you can use warranty... i think it might be the best/freest option :smileyhappy:
